Final weekend of lane restrictions at Exe Bridges
The final weekend of lane restrictions at Exe Bridges will take place this weekend (6 and 7 April).
Lane restrictions will again be in place in order to complete resurfacing and waterproofing work on Exe Bridge South.
Although the roundabout will not be closed at any point during the work, a number of lanes will be closed. Every effort is being made to minimise disruption but road users are being warned to expect delays if travelling via Exe Bridges.
From approximately 6am on Saturday morning, the three right-hand lanes across Exe Bridge South will be closed, leaving only one lane open. Traffic will be diverted into the bus lane.
The exit off Exe Bridge South will be closed and traffic will be diverted via Alphington Street - Alphington Road – Cowick Lane – Cowick Street.
These restrictions will remain in force until 7am Monday morning. The traffic management plans can be viewed here.
This weekend’s work should complete the resurfacing and waterproofing work on the South bridge. The remainder of the scheme, which will be carried out during weekday evenings from 7pm to 7am, will involve the replacement of bridge joints, anti-skid (high friction) surfacing will be applied near the pedestrian crossings, and signs will be replaced.
All of the work is weather sensitive, which may affect timings.
Further information and traffic management plans are available here.
