Flybe has today confirmed the launch of new direct flights from Exeter Airport to Norwich Airport in East Anglia, saving hours on the equivalent journey by road or rail.

The new flights will operate six days a week from 24 March with one-way fares starting from just £17.49 including taxes and charges, available at flybe.com

The new route is being supported by the Government’s Regional Air Connectivity Fund. This supports routes that might not initially be commercially viable, giving airlines time to build passenger numbers and deliver more sustainable services.

Matt Roach, Managing Director of Exeter Airport, said: “Today’s announcement adds to Flybe’s growing network from Exeter and we think this route will be popular with business and leisure passengers because the equivalent journey by road or rail takes five to six hours.

“The fact that the Government is supporting the new service with its Regional Air Connectivity Fund is further recognition of Exeter Airport’s role as a key economic driver in our region.”

The new service builds on Flybe’s strong network from Exeter which also includes flights to London City Airport, Manchester, Newcastle, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dublin, Belfast, the Channel Islands, Paris and Amsterdam.

Thanks also to an innovative partnership agreed last year between Flybe and Exeter Airport owners Regional & City Airports, the airport division of Rigby Group, Exeter’s sunshine routes to Spain and Portugal have been safeguarded for the future, and extended.

This year will see year-round flights to Alicante and Malaga, in addition to seasonal services to Palma Mallorca and Faro using one of Flybe’s E195 118-seater aircraft. More winter flights to Geneva are also planned.
