Help mend popular Dartmoor bridleway
There is not much time left to help raise £10,000 towards repairs to the badly eroded Nun’s Cross bridleway near Princetown.
The Mend Our Mountains campaign was launched by the British Mountaineering Council earlier this month and will run until 16 May.
Working with eight national parks, they hope to raise more than £100,000 to repair damaged paths.
This is a fundraising appeal with a difference - powered by crowdfunding.
Through this campaign on Dartmoor, BMC are trying to raise funds to repair severe erosion on the spectacular and ancient Nun's Cross bridleway, used by 18,000 walkers and 6,000 mountain bikers annually. This is a 4km long project which will cost about £40 – £50 per metre.
Andrew Watson, Head of Recreation & Access, Dartmoor National Park Authority said: “Dartmoor National Park Authority is delighted to be working with the BMC on the Mend our Mountains campaign. This provides a fantastic opportunity for everyone who has a passion for our most spectacular landscapes to contribute to our work and help us to look after these special places.
The BMC’s Campaign will enable people to put something back into Dartmoor. Without public support we will not be able to carry out urgently needed repairs to one of our most popular trails across the high moorland, used by many thousands of walkers and cyclists every year.”
