Malcom and Nikki Dixie started the family-run business in 1967 and opened one of the first fitted carpet shops, a new trend in the late ‘60’s, in the centre of Exeter. Today Nikki and her two sons, Mark and Gary Dixie, together with daughter-in-law Heather, continue the values and ethos of the family tradition, by offering excellent personal service and quality-products at competitive prices.
The main shop located in Alphington, boasts an impressive 12k sq.ft., of floor space selling carpets, sofas, furniture and beds, as well as accessories. In the summer, a £30k investment was made to update and modernise the furniture section in the expansive showroom of this long-established retail business. A second shop, ‘CASA’, located at the former ‘Old Gaol on The Strand, Topsham, was opened in 2015 and has proved very successful, complementing the range of products at the Exeter store.
Gary Dixie – Director Queenstreet Carpets & Furnishings comments: “Mark and I are very proud to be carrying on the legacy of the business which was established by our Mum and Dad in the Sixties, and we felt it was important to mark this significant anniversary by giving something back. With this in mind, we organised a free prize draw for the chance to win a number of £50 vouchers, as well as a ‘Golden Ticket’ to an overall winner, to utilise towards the cost of a sofa, bed or chair.” He adds: “Alice’s details were drawn randomly through a computerised selection process, and we were delighted to invite her into the shop to collect the top prize. She certainly has plenty of stock to choose from, either at Alphington or Topsham in-store, or on-line.”
