M&S Spark Something Good for Exeter cancer charity

M&S colleagues and a team of local volunteers rolled up their sleeves to give the garden at FORCE Cancer Charity’s Support and Information Centre a thorough tidy-up.

Over the course of a week, M&S colleagues and customers joined forces as part of the special volunteering initiative that has had a big impact on 24 local charities.

Nine M&S stores from Plymouth to Exeter took part in Spark Something Good, which saw 300 volunteers give up 2,653 hours for free, in order to make a positive difference.

Spark Something Good involves 24 projects at the heart of local communities in 24 cities in the UK and Ireland over the course of 24 months.

Plymouth and Exeter were selected to host an M&S Spark Something Good event following the success of projects in Newcastle, Bristol, Leeds and Bradford.

A total of 14 people were involved in the FORCE garden project and the charity’s Volunteer Manager Naomi Snook said: “It was a wonderful day. Everybody worked really hard and thanks to their efforts, the garden looks great. We are very grateful to M&S for choosing FORCE to be involved in the Spark Something Good campaign.”
Suzanne Yeo from Marks & Spencer Exeter, said: “We are so proud of everything we managed to achieve while volunteering at FORCE. The charity’s work is invaluable to our local community and has truly touched our hearts. It’s been amazing to witness the dedication of colleagues and local volunteers to genuinely making a difference!”
