Two overnight road closures will be carried out this month as part of the ongoing major refurbishment of the Rive Exe Viaduct on the A361.

The scheme, which involves replacing the failed expansion joint and waterproofing the bridge deck of the structure west of Bolham Roundabout in Tiverton, is reaching the half way point.

Work on the eastbound carriageway is due to be complete next week (w/c Monday 9 November) and the upcoming night-time closures will enable the contractor to safely switch to the westbound carriageway.

The road will be fully closed from 7pm on Wednesday 11 November, re-opening by 6am the following morning. It will close again from 7pm on Thursday 12 November, re-opening by 6am the next day.

When the road is fully closed overnight, both west and eastbound traffic will be diverted via Cove.

Following these overnight closures, a contraflow will be established to maintain westbound traffic flow as per the current arrangement, and the original diversion will resume. This will remain the same as before, with eastbound traffic, heading towards Tiverton/M5, diverted onto the B3227 and A396 via Cove. Traffic heading westbound away from Tiverton, towards South Molton, will be undisrupted other than the overnight closures.

Further overnight closures are expected towards the end of the project. Work is expected to be completed by January 2016.
