Stagecoach bus service changes announced
From 20th September there will be a number of relatively minor service changes to Stagecoach bus routes operated under contract to Devon County Council. These are a result of cuts to the Devon County Council budget.
Exeter City Services
Route D (Digby - Exeter - University) On Mondays-Fridays, the 15 minute frequency between St Lukes and the University will be extended until 1900 in line with extended lecture hours.
On Saturdays the short journeys between St Lukes and the University will no longer run, with only the full route running every 30 minutes.
Route T (Topsham - Countess Wear - Exeter - Pinhoe) Most daytime journeys on this route will no longer serve Topsham, and therefore be re-lettered K to maintain the 10 minute frequency from Countess Wear. Three shopping journeys will continue to run as route T during the day. During the evening and on Sundays the frequency of the T will be reduced to hourly, with on the withdrawn journeys re-lettered J to maintain the 30 minute frequency from Countess Wear.
Route J (The Rydons - Countess Wear - Exeter - Pinhoe) A new hourly evening and Sunday service is being introduced.
Exeter Area Services
Route 1 (Exeter - Cullompton - Tiverton). The number of rush hour journeys between Willand and Tiverton is being reduced. The timetable is being amended to improve reliability during the rush hours.
Route X38 (Exeter - Buckfastleigh & Buckfastleigh - Plymouth). The very lightly used 0505 from Exeter (0547 from Buckfastleigh) and 2020 from Plymouth (2108 from Buckfastleigh) will no longer run. The Sunday service is reduced from 3 trips to 2.
Route 53 (Exeter - Colyford). This once a day service will no longer run. Alternative journeys now run on First route X53.
Route X64 (Exeter - Totnes & Totnes - Dartmouth). The Sunday service will now serve Dartmouth instead of Salcombe, with an additional trip from Newton Abbot to Exeter in the morning and back in the evening. No changes Mondays-Saturdays.
Route 164 (Totnes - Salcombe). An amended timetable will be introduced to this Sunday-only service, connecting with the X64
All other proposed reductions by Devon County Council that featured in their consultation document will not now take place.
