Weather warning for R1 Big Weekend

A yellow warning for rain has been issued in Devon for tomorrow.

Revelers planning to go along to the Radio 1 Big Weekend at Powderham Castle are being urged to pack their waterproofs and be prepared.

A Met Office spokesman said: “Although some places will remain dry during Saturday, scattered heavy showers and thunderstorms are likely to develop through the afternoon and continue into the evening in places, so be aware of the potential for localised surface water flooding, whilst lightning and hail will also be additional hazards for travel and outdoor activities.”

The Met Office five-day forecast is as follows:

This Evening and Tonight:
Scattered showers, occasionally heavy and thundery with a risk of hail, will continue this evening, before gradually easing away to the east overnight. Some clear spells will also develop, but patches of low cloud and fog are also possible. Minimum Temperature 8 °C.
Saturday:
The morning should begin mostly dry with low cloud or fog lifting to give some warm sunshine. However, showers are likely to develop, possibly turning heavy and thundery in places. Maximum Temperature 19 °C.
Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:
Sunny spells and showers on Sunday, but not as heavy as Saturday. Monday should be mostly fine, however wet and windy conditions may spread from the east overnight into Tuesday.
