Six-figure payday for Exeter City

Exeter City’s replay at Anfield means the club is set for a cash windfall, estimated to be worth up to £700,000.

That is the equivalent to a year’s wage bill. A win would have secured about a month’s worth.

The Grecians put in a gritty performance against Liverpool’s Kindergarten Klopps – a reference to the inexperienced team the Premier League-side manager fielded.

They earned a 2-2 draw, and the praise of the often-cynical London press.

The replay is expected to take place within the next ten days, although no date has been set.

Exeter best resembling one of those grizzly old reserve teams that used to school youngsters in a man's game.
DAILY MAIL

What was so admirable was just how well Exeter played. They had outstanding and skillful performances all over the pitch as they made light of the gulf between these two clubs in a stadium creaking at the seams and rammed to the rafters.
