Leading South West law firm Stephens Scown is working with a fast-growing Devon brand and licence holding company, Mandarin Creative, to review and protect its intellectual property portfolio.

Mandarin Creative, a subsidiary of Frontline Image Ltd, based in Plymouth and established for last 19 years, specialises in design and brand development with sales across street wear, music and surf inspired lifestyle markets, along with Character licences in both the adult and children’s sectors.

The company works with over 20 global brands and licences including Marvel, Disney and Ministry of Sound.  It sells branded goods such as T-shirts and bags to retailers around the UK and abroad.

Sanjay Raphael, a registered trade mark attorney at Stephens Scown, said: “We are really looking forward to working with this exciting company who have a strong portfolio of licences.  We’ll be helping them review their IP portfolio including their trade marks and licensing, their contractual agreements with retailers, use of their own trade marks, and international aspects too given that they sell into Europe as well as the UK.  It’s important that any company reviews and protects its IP assets – without this businesses could be missing out on commercial opportunities and could even lose their key assets.”

Stephen Nelson, Creative Director of Mandarin Creative said: “As a brand and licence company, keeping tight control of intellectual property is essential to us.  We’re delighted that Stephens Scown will be helping us review our IP portfolio as we continue to grow and expand.”

Stephens Scown has over 270 staff, including more than 50 partners, across its offices in Exeter, Truro and St Austell. For more information visit www.stephens-scown.co.uk
