Intermediaries hear of ‘extraordinary opportunities in the alternative finance market’

Representatives from the South West financial community including financial advisers, corporate finance specialists, developers and banks attended a breakfast event on Tuesday to learn more about Bricks Financial Limited, the new lending business which is offering alternative financing for investors and borrowers.

Jerry Rihll, a director and one of the four founders of Bricks Financial director explained the ethos and motivation behind the new venture. He said:
“Today we announced our plan to build a community of intermediaries to help those looking for business finance or investment.

“We formed Bricks Financial last year with a shared vision forged by our experiences of working with entrepreneurs in the South West who have found it incredibly difficult to raise finance. Furthermore, we have discovered there is a huge untapped source of finance available from investors who want a higher return on their capital.”

The meeting was also addressed by the former South West Bank of England Agent, Kevin Butler, who described the current financial climate and extraordinary opportunities in the alternative finance market.

He described how bank lending has contracted since the credit crisis in 2008 and how peer-to-peer lending is expected to be included in tax-free ISAs later this year, both fuelling the growth of alternative finance.

Clive Banks of Bricks Financial described how the new business helps local people access finance easily and quickly with safe and sensible asset-based lending that provides excellent rates for investors with a secured investment that brings benefits to the South West.

He said: “Entrepreneurs are desperate for a lender who is free to take a commercial view on deals and investors are seeking excellent rates with a secured investment that brings benefits to the local community. We can deliver this. All four of us are local people who care about local growth and want to put something back into our local economy.”
