Classpeople steps up compliance to improve safeguarding

Classpeople, the leading independent education recruitment specialists in the South-west today announced the appointment of new compliance officer, Lauren Thompson. The move has been made to tackle constant changes to legislation such as the recent introduction of Disqualification by Association (DBA) meaning that a teacher or practitioner can now be disqualified from work if living or working in the same household as an individual that has been disqualified.

Lynis Bassett, Classpeople Director, explains: "We take our commitment to safeguarding very seriously and have always made sure that we take a robust and thorough stance on compliance. With more than 5000 candidates in our system it is imperative that we have the right measures in place to deal with constant changing legislation such as the introduction of the DBA.  We are looking forward to having Lauren on board to ensure that this process is done quickly, efficiently and in line with our company values.”

Lauren, previously a work programme adviser for LearnDirect in a role that involved safeguarding vulnerable adults and producing reports on quality of candidate files for the DWP and Ofsted, will oversee compliance for all five of Classpeople’s existing branches.
