Commercial businesses and not-for-profit organisations join quest for new types of leadership
A diverse group of businesses and not-for-profit organisations from around the UK are gathering in Exeter next month to participate in an innovative leadership workshop programme aimed at providing leaders with the knowledge, skills and confidence that enable them to build high performing organisations by fully engaging their people.
Led by Workplace Innovation Europe CLG (WIE), participants include Plymouth based shared services company, Delt Services, Exeter based Lightfoot, an award-winning, highly innovative vehicle improvement technology business, Midlands-based construction engineering specialists M-EC, and Macmillan Cancer Support.
Futures Housing Group which manages over 9000 properties in the Midlands, and Stevenage based defence manufacturer MBDA will also join the highly interactive 24 hour workshop which will provide participants with the insights and practical support needed to lead positive change in their organisations, as well as building individual self-awareness and the ability to connect more effectively with their people.
The workshop and follow-up e-learning programme will be facilitated by WIE Directors Professor Peter Totterdill and Rosemary Exton, together with their Exeter based colleague Natalie Wilkie, a specialist in emotional intelligence for leaders who recently worked at the Met Office heading up the organisation’s Innovation Culture Team.
Peter Totterdill said: “We have attracted a diverse range of business and other organisations who share a common objective. Each of them recognises that the ability to change, adapt and innovate in the workplace is essential to future-proof their organizations and to deliver better performance and greater well-being at work.
“They understand that this requires the right leadership skills and that practical and sustainable solutions are required. By sharing ideas and experiences, participants are able to recognise their own challenges, benchmark them against other and develop the leadership skills and workplace action plans to take them into the future.

The inaugural ‘Leadership for High Performing Organisations’ Immersive Workshop takes place at Harry’s on Longbrook Street, Exeter from 9th April (16.00) to 10th April 2019 (16.00). The £150 (+VAT) cost includes the Kickstart Workshop, dinner on 9th April and a CPD Certificate, refundable when participants decide to join the full programme after the Workshop.
