Dawsonrentals|truck & trailer has confirmed an exclusive four year agreement with Bandvulc, the UK’s largest independent truck tyre retreader. Bandvulc will work closely with the individual managers at the company’s 30 branches around the UK, collecting tyres from the 11,000 strong truck and trailer fleet and retreading them as needed.

Peter Snowden, engineering director of the Dawsonrentals operation, said, “This agreement has been subject to a rigorous process, even though we have had a good working relationship with Bandvulc for a number of years. At the end of it though, we wanted to formalise it for the benefit of both parties. We enjoy the quality Bandvulc provides, it has such good credentials, as well as the carbon reduction and other environmental benefits we accrue through the tie-up.

We know that a Bandvulc retread uses 68 litres of oil less than a replacement tyre, and that the Bandvulc Plus+ fleet management system will deal properly with all our scrap tyres.

“Our Central Maintenance Team will remain in control of which tyres are removed from our vehicles, and Bandvulc will then collect and deal with them on our behalf. They currently produce over 200,000 retreads a year in the UK, with some 200 pattern/size combinations available, so we are confident they can deliver for us.”

Bandvulc’s  group commercial director, Phil West, commented, “Dawsonrentals values the thorough inspection service we carry out on all tyres we take in from them through our Ivybridge, Wigan and Lutterworth centres. Each tyre is individually checked and we then make the decision on behalf of Dawsonrentals as to whether it is still usable, suitable for retreading or needs to be scrapped. We also support Dawsonrentals own 24 hour emergency call -out service as and when required.”

Dawsonrentals and Bandvulc have significant relationships with many of the UK’s major fleets, and the formalisation of the tie-up is seen as valuable to both in this context. Peter Snowden again, “We deal regularly with blue chip customers in own-account, logistics and haulage, and it is an added bonus for them to know that we partner with companies such as Bandvulc, which, for example, like us has contracts with many of the major supermarket fleets.”
