Devon Contract Waste acquires commercial arm of Wellington Waste

Exeter-based waste management business Devon Contract Waste has taken over the commercial waste division of Somerset-based Wellington Waste in a deal that sees the Devon company acquire contracts worth around £220,000.

The takeover means approximately 300 trade waste customers have been transferred over to Devon Contract Waste’s Zero to Landfill service, with no interruption to collections. The deal is in-line with the company’s ambitious expansion plans, which aim to increase its market share of commercial waste collections within and beyond its Devon heartland and reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill in the South West.

The Zero to Landfill service, the first and only one of its kind in the South West, means that all materials that may be recycled, are. Devon Contract Waste’s unique Envirohub is home to state-of-the-art sorting equipment that efficiently sorts all mixed non-food, non-glass waste. Every piece of waste that can be recycled is sorted and processed, saving the client time and reducing costs, as the waste does not have to be pre-sorted. Mixed waste is collected from, clients in a single vehicle, reducing the number of journeys made and minimising its CO2 emissions.

Wellington Waste will continue to operate its domestic collections service as usual.
