Digital marketing specialist employs first apprentice
A Cornish marketing specialist has welcomed its first apprentice after 20 months of successful growth.
MiHi Digital, which offers assistance on all aspects of online marketing including website design, social media, search engine optimisation and strategy, was set up by Mark Worden 20 months ago to support the burgeoning online potential of the Duchy’s businesses.
The company has worked with more than 100 organisations from across the UK and three other continents, which have a combined turnover in excess of £400-million. With an ever-growing client base, MiHi has now welcomed its first apprentice, Amelia Chubb.
Amelia, a former journalist for a locally based newspaper, decided to get involved with digital marketing after developing an interest in the industry.
She said: “Having worked in journalism for six years, I often reported on the progress of businesses like MiHi Digital, but now I am a part of that which is exciting. I look forward to working with Mark and learning from his experience, broadening my knowledge of the industry.”
Mark said: “It’s incredibly exciting to be able to give Amelia this opportunity as she takes her first step in digital marketing. We’ve got some great clients; from BAFTA and EMMY nominated individuals to your more traditional professional services; Amelia will see and learn how to help a business grow online, no matter what the sector.”
The new role, which is part of a recognised apprenticeship scheme, means Amelia can gain hands-on experience of digital marketing and develop a host of other business skills.
Mark added: “The growth of the business to date has been based on providing a quality service, measuring and delivering results, all without unnecessary technical jargon. To sustain that quality it’s essential we invest in the people we recruit and provide them all the skills they need to help our clients.”
Mike Blakeley, head of business solutions and enterprise at Exeter College, said: “Apprenticeships are a key part of our offering at Exeter College, providing a fantastic variety of work and training opportunities. Not only does it allow the apprentice to learn on the job, it allows them to develop their knowledge and grow with the company. Exeter has firmly established a reputation of providing a fantastic range of proven apprenticeships for all ages.”
