Enable Law, the specialist mental capacity, personal injury, and medical negligence law firm, has bolstered its leadership team with the promotion of Claire Leslie as a new partner.
Claire has been promoted to partner from her position as Legal Director and Head of the firm’s Exeter Clinical Negligence Team.
Commenting on her new position with South West-headquartered Enable Law, Claire said: “I am delighted to join the partnership at Enable Law and further dedicate my expertise to advocating for individuals and families affected by medical negligence.
“It's a privilege to contribute to a firm so committed to achieving justice in this crucial area of law. I started my training contract with Enable Law in 2007, so my professional growth has been closely linked with the firm's, and I'm eager to contribute to its future success."
Claire has over 15 years’ frontline legal experience as a medical negligence lawyer, with particular expertise in delay in diagnosing meningitis cases, mismanagement of infections leading to amputation claims, maternal injury claims and complex birth injury resulting in neurological injuries.
Her career highlights include achieving compensation in the region of £15 million for a child following a meningitis diagnosis delay. She also won a £3m settlement for a client who had to undergo a below-the-knee amputation due to negligent surgery.
Claire, who is based at Enable Law’s Exeter offices at Senate Court, Southernhay Gardens, successfully settled a complex spinal cord injury claim for a client and his family for a multi-million pound lump sum with regular payments of £100,000 per year ensuring he is looked after for life.
She was also involved in pursuing a group action against an NHS hospital trust investigating gynaecological claims for more than 200 women.
Commenting on Claire’s promotion, Rob Antrobus, Head of Enable Law, said: “Claire's promotion to Partner is a reflection of her exceptional legal expertise, dedication to achieving the best outcomes for clients, and genuine commitment to the growth of our firm.
“She has demonstrated outstanding ability in securing substantial settlements and delivering justice, aligning perfectly with Enable Laws core values. Her leadership and passion make her an invaluable addition to the partnership, and I have no doubt she will continue to make a lasting impact.”
Claire, whose promotion takes effect on May 1, is also co-ordinator of the Devon and Cornwall region of Association of Personal Injury Lawyers.
As a dedicated patient safety advocate, she frequently provides training to professionals and charities on critical topics, including securing funding for support and treatments after medical accidents. She has also been involved with patient safety campaigns and has worked alongside Enable Law charity partners to raise awareness of medical conditions.
