Exeter BID is celebrating the achievements made by its members’ benefits scheme which has identified savings in excess of £50,000 for levy payers so far.

Introduced in July 2016, the scheme is the result of a successful partnership with Meercat Associates and offers businesses in the BID area a personalised service to identify how they can reduce their costs. The scheme is funded and managed by the Exeter BID.

Craig Bulley, CEO of Exeter BID said: “Meercat Associates are experienced at working with businesses to ensure they are receiving the best possible rates for services that impact on their bottom line. They have helped businesses in Exeter by securing everything from cheaper utility rates, telecoms services and merchant fees. The scheme is just one of the initiatives and projects the Exeter BID team has put in place to help city companies thrive.”

Rishi Sood, Managing Director of Meercat Associates said: “We are delighted to have neutralised the levy of so many BID members in such a short time. Members are seeing the tangible benefits of collaborating and procuring services as a community and we look forward to making further savings in the coming months”.

Andrew and Gill Birnie of South Gate Gallery said: “Thanks to Meercat Associates we are about to significantly reduce our electricity costs and make savings on our energy bill. As members of the Exeter BID our art gallery and picture framing business is set to benefit from their research which has led to us switching energy supplier. They provided us with an analysis of costs and organised the switch for us. Many thanks Meercat.”

Exeter BID launched in 2015 and has delivered a number of key projects which have benefitted businesses in the city. These include high profile events such as the Christmas Lights Switch on, a three strong ‘Welcome Team’ who help visitors and residents make the most of the city, an enhanced street cleaning service, trade waste scheme and more.  To find out more about Exeter BID please visit www.exeterbid.co.uk and www.inexeter.com
