Exeter celebrates two winners in the 2019 Michelmores Property Awards
Chester Long Court in Exeter, has won the Residential Project of the Year (35 units and under) in the Michelmores Property Awards. This project led by Exeter City has been built in a Passivhaus standard, which offers low energy requirements for tenants. The Chester Long Court project has created 26 homes consisting of one bedroom and two bedroom apartments, with the aim of encouraging Council tenants to 'right-size'.
Chris Curling Judge at the Property Awards commented, "This is a truly innovative scheme, it represents a milestone in the development of Passivhaus engineered accommodation, and the move towards zero carbon buildings locally. The units are all affordable apartments for people aged over 60, and it is clear that they very much enjoy living in this accommodation."
Exeter-based Steve Hindley CBE, Chairman of Midas Group, was awarded the John Laurence Special Contribution award, for his outstanding contribution to the property landscape of the South West. Steve has over 40 years' experience in the construction industry at both project and company board level. He is a Chartered Civil Engineer, a Fellow of both the Institution of Civil Engineers and the Chartered Institute of Building and an eminent member of RICS.
Thelma Sorensen OBE, judge of the Michelmores Property Awards commented: "Congratulations to Steve Hindley on being awarded this special contribution award. It was a unanimous decision of the judges and very well deserved. Steve has made a great contribution to the construction industry and the wider business community in the South West, and has driven the growth of Midas Group to be nationally recognised. In addition, his support of many activities beyond his own company has been second to none."
The Michelmores 2019 Gala Dinner was held at Sandy Park conference centre in Exeter, on Thursday 13 June. With Sally Phillips as the main host, it was an enjoyable evening for all that attended.
