Specialist hospitality and hotel marketing agency, Clockwork Marketing, is proud to announce that it has been awarded B Corp accreditation, verified by B Lab, to meet high standards of social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability.

Certified B Corporations are leaders in the global movement for an inclusive, equitable and regenerative economy, with their entire social and environmental impact measured.  Clockwork Marketing has undertaken B Corp accreditation to become more purpose-driven and lead by example in a sector that has a large carbon footprint and issues with over tourism in some locations.

Clare Bushby, managing director of Clockwork Marketing, explained: “As we move into a new era of travel, we must begin to think of hospitality differently as luxury and price alone will not entice tomorrow’s guests.  People will expect a reciprocation of their green values and will hold businesses to high moral standards.  Tourism needs to evolve too, for people and the planet.”

Clockwork Marketing’s environmental and social initiatives are recognised with its new B Corp status, they are committed to both Ecologi and Hive energy monitoring, have introduced new water and energy-saving tools in the office along with eco-friendly office products and purchasing policies.

Supporting its local community, Clockwork has actively chosen to prioritise suppliers close to home and last year donated over 400 hours of work time to good business and charitable causes.  They are also proud to have donated £6,500 to regional charities as well as making annual contributions to the Devon Wildlife Trust.

Clare added: “With over 30 years in the sector, we understand hospitality businesses in a way only insiders can.  Excessive travel may be restricted in the future and tourist taxes, already impacting travel, may become more commonplace.

“But regenerative tourism breakthroughs and new technologies can reduce travel impact, transform local communities and improve our lives for the better. We want Clockwork to be a force for good, to have purpose and to lead by example, not just pay lip service to the change that’s needed. Our B Corp accreditation is the first step on a long road.”

Along with its B Corp accreditation, 2024 also sees the company celebrating 32 successful years of business.  Originally formed in 1992 it has grown to a team of 21 and now works with over 230 client hospitality businesses.

Additionally, Clockwork’s B Corp status recognised the company’s employee support and wellbeing awareness. With flexible and home working, duvet days as an additional holiday option, ‘Wellness Wednesday’ walks for screen breaks resulting in 536 miles walked so far and a nine-day fortnight introduced across business teams, as well as other benefits.  It's a highly desirable place to work.

In 2023 Clockwork Marketing organised and delivered its inaugural South West Tourism Summit, themed ‘Tourism for Good’, with headline speaker Chris Hines MBE former Surfers Against Sewage and Eden Project Sustainability Director, along with other inspiring speakers.

In recognition of its new B Corp status, Clockwork created a B-shaped Bug Hotel using recycled or extended-purpose materials, encouraging insects and wildlife outside its offices in Kingskerswell, Devon.
