Free lunchtime seminar on Making Tax Digital for Business
With less than a year to go until the government’s ‘Making Tax Digital’ scheme becomes mandatory for businesses with VATable turnover in excess of £85,000, local Chartered Accountancy firm Simpkins Edwards is preparing businesses in the Holsworthy area for its introduction with a free seminar on the subject.
Taking place on 27 March at Holsworthy Golf Course from 11.45am, the talk will be presented by Chartered Tax Adviser and Chartered Accountant Jo Tope. Jo, who works with businesses in the agricultural, leisure, tourism and automotive sectors, as well as with corporate clients, will address requirements surrounding Making Tax Digital reporting, timescales and recommended action plans. The seminar will be followed by a light lunch.
Commenting on the event Jo Tope, Senior Manager for the Holsworthy office of Simpkins Edwards, said: “In addition to preparing businesses for the April 2019 deadline, we will be looking at what Making Tax Digital holds in store beyond the initial mandation. We’ll also discuss the positive impacts of the early adoption of digital record keeping via cloud-based accounting software.
“For example, if you are looking to invest in new equipment, you will have a much clearer view of the up to date financial health of your business and its future cashflow. By taking action now and adopting cloud-based software, you could put your businesses in a more informed position and you could address teething problems before the legislation comes into effect.”
