The Family Law Company has announced the promotion of Helen Trott to Senior Associate Solicitor.

Helen joined the company in 2012 to specialise in care work and the law relating to children, after studying law at the University of Warwick and then working in a general family law role.

She said: “I knew I wanted to specialise in child law and the best route would be working for a specialist; The Family Law Company has a strong reputation for care work.”

Helen’s work is in a particularly stressful area of family law and she predominantly handles legal aid cases, which many law firms shy away from since the funding cuts of 2013.

"Working in this area of law is very fast paced and, at times, can be emotionally draining, but I feel passionately about acting for children, as well as parents and other family members who are going through exceptionally difficult times in their lives,” Helen explained.

“I also enjoy representing my clients at court hearings, which is a large part of my work now.”

Director, Rachel Buckley said: “This promotion is recognition of how far Helen has come since joining the team six years’ ago.

“She is a real asset to our care work team, supporting the most vulnerable clients with empathy and strength.”

Helen is a member of the Law Society Children Panel and represents children, parents and extended family members, primarily in cases where the local authority is involved but also in private family disputes about children.
