Royal Visit to new Mole Avon Country Store in Crediton by HRH The Duke of Gloucester
HRH The Duke of Gloucester, officially opened Mole Avon Trading’s new £5.2M Country Store in Crediton, Devon on Tuesday 2nd October.
During his visit His Royal Highness met members of staff, company directors and key suppliers to the country store, most of whom are based in Crediton. Prince Richard took the opportunity to view the wide selection of goods that Mole Avon offer their customers, including the new ‘Wellie Wall’ before cutting a cake and unveiling a plaque, to commemorate his visit and the formal opening of the Country Store.
The store in Crediton, considered to be one of the “Top ten commercial developments for Devon” a year ago, is one of 3 in the group, the others located in Okehampton and Axminster.
All stores play a significant supporting role to their local farmers, with supplies including animal medicines, fencing, feed and bedding as well as useful hands on advice.
The service has grown over the years and while farming and agriculture is at the heart of the business, Mole Avon is continuing to meet the growing needs of the rural community.
The ranges on offer include clothing & footwear, pet and bird, equine, gardening, hardware and workwear. While all stores have a limited range of food and drink, the new store in Crediton is the first to include a ‘farm shop’ championing local produce, much of which is produced a stone’s throw from the store.
Mike Haines, Managing Director of Mole Avon Trading Ltd, said “We appreciate His Royal Highness coming to Crediton to open the new store. It’s a great achievement for everyone involved and we are hugely grateful to the local community for their support and enthusiasm, it is ‘their’ store.”
