Top financial personality brings market insights to Exeter
Francis Clark Financial Planning (FCFP) have recently arranged events in Truro and Exeter where Justin Urquhart Stewart, co-founder of Seven Investment Management (7IM), gave an insightful, witty and demystifying view of the investment market and the global economy.
Complete with signature red braces, he highlighted that there was growth in the UK economy but the government needed to address issues of longer term investment in infrastructure such as HS2 and fibre optic coverage of superfast broadband for the whole country. He mentioned that there has only been one runway built in the UK since 1945 and all these issues needed to be addressed if we were going to see a sustained growth in the economy.
Regarding the global economy, he talked about the perception given by the media that China’s economy is shrinking, he said that China is actually still growing but at a much slower rate and growth would still be above the global average over the coming years.
He stressed to the audience the importance of long term financial planning when it comes to pensions and investments, look at a range of assets rather than a few and think about the future with confidence about your financial plans.
Mike Wilson, Managing Director of FCFP said: “Justin is a remarkable individual. He trained as a barrister before going into corporate finance. While working in Uganda at the time of Idi Amin’s deposition, he was shot and seriously wounded but he is irrepressible and he bounced back to carve a unique place for himself in the world of investment where he has made an immense contribution in developing the investment market and breaking down many of the traditional barriers for investors.
“As our audiences can attest, he is particularly well known for his entertaining speaking and use of plain English as well as his investment insight.”
The audience with Justin Urquhart Stewart took place at the Mercure Southgate Hotel, Southernhay East, Exeter on Tuesday 29th September.
