Visit South Devon launches new-look website for 2018
Visit South Devon has unveiled a new-look website for 2018 packed with images, film and interactive footage. Designed to show off the astounding range of breath-taking countryside and seaside destinations throughout East Devon, Mid Devon, Teignbridge and South Hams, the new site guides visitors on a rich journey of discovery.
Spanning three Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, over 120 miles of coastline, Dartmoor National Park, the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site, the South West Coast Path and a host of nature reserves, the site is a rich resource for anyone looking to discover more about this stunning part of the country.
The home page film takes visitors on an aerial tour of Exmouth, Burgh Island, Seaton, Sidmouth, Budleigh Salterton, Powderham, Exeter, Dawlish Warren, Teignmouth (recent backdrop to the film The Mercy, starring Rachel Weisz and Colin Firth), Dartmoor, Salcombe, Buckfastleigh, Dartmouth, Beer (English winner of Channel 4’s Village of the Year), Bickleigh and Hope Cove.
The new site will offer a host of competitions during April and May including the chance to win dinner for four at the award-winning Riverford Field Kitchen near Totnes, and the opportunity to win four weekend camping tickets to Lemonfest over the weekend of 08-09 June.
Providing a one-stop shop for tourists looking for everything from Kayaking on the River Dart to bird watching in the Blackdown Hills AONB, the website brings together information on events, attractions, destinations, activities, accommodation and hospitality so that tourists can easily find the key to creating their perfect holiday.
Films include a culinary journey through the south of the county, a 360 degree trip through Haldon Forrest, and an interactive 360 degree SUP journey along the captivating Exe Estuary.
Commenting on the launch of the new site, Stuart Longrigg, Chairman of Visit South Devon, said: “Our goal is simple, and that is to entice visitors from across the UK and beyond to discover the delights of South Devon. The new and expanded website brings together an incredible mix of places to stay, experiences and attractions to enjoy.
“From country lanes and rolling fields to cliff top views, moors and wild adventures on land or sea, South Devon is an incredible area, full of personality, packed with activities and amazing places to explore. South Devon is a stand-out destination that deserves to be shouted about, and that’s exactly what the new website delivers.”
Stuart Longrigg added: “Our goal is to highlight the very best of what makes South Devon so special, so that visitors can find all they need to make their holiday fun, exciting, relaxing, surprising and truly memorable. That could be kayaking and crabbing with the kids, barbequing on a beach, ballooning over East Devon, relaxing and recharging in a spa hotel, or wild camping on Dartmoor.
“With so much to offer, including our world-renowned warm welcome, fantastic food and drink, amazing experiences and an incredible range of accommodation, we hope to help all visitors find their happy place in South Devon.”
The new Visit South Devon website was made possible by funding from the South Devon Coastal Local Action Group 2015-2020. The funding was awarded in 2017 to develop a new interactive website, aerial videos, virtual reality videos and new photography that would showcase the area in all its glory as part of project by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development to support the rural economy.
The South Devon Local Action Group is responsible for the management of a 1.5m funding programme as part of the Rural Development Programme for England.
