Youth and Business Achievement Awards 2015

The Youth and Business Achievement Awards 2015 recognise, celebrate and inspire local 16–24 year olds and Local businesses to continue to jointly building a positive productive community to work and live in.  It's especially important to build on this in tourist areas such as Kingsbridge and Salcombe were work, can be of a seasonal nature.

The awards also highlight the importance of ensuring the young people are work ready for their needs and that of the local business community, proving the benefits of external and in house training on various levels, blended and on line learning and apprenticeships.          .     

Finally after months of build-up in the press, via promotions and social media the awards event was happening.

A great night of networking and hospitality was enjoyed by the local young people and local businesses, giving both the opportunity to stop reflect and enjoy the moment. 

The six awards categories were given on effort put into improving individual’s abilities and business capabilities - awards including the  Jack Tanner Legacy Award for an Exceptionally Inspiring 16 – 24 year old, who have motivate others to reach their potential; Apprentice of the Year had to demonstrate commitment to learning and they had added value to the business and Employer of the Year demonstrated inspiring, motivating and supporting 16 – 24 year olds to reach their potential.

Enabling other local young people to demonstrate their many talents the Award organisers commissioned both LA Lighting and Media, to run the event which is owned and run by two local young people who are studying Event Management at College.  Luke and Adam did a great job on the night having previously provided their service at Charity Fashion shows, Weddings and other events.

For the Awards Event Photography The 16 – 24 Work Club commissioned Max Styles another young man who is studying photography at Plymouth University.  

As feedback and photographs proved both local young businesses did a great job.

Other supporters and suppliers included: Amanda Keetley of Vivid Results,   Spirtulized Trustees, Winners Trophies of Paignton, Nick Walker Printing.

The judges were Susan Fish Chairman of Spiritulized Trustees, Simon Gotch – Chairman of Skills Training Uk and Samantha  Short – Manager of Kingsbridge Information Centre and Vice Chair of Salcombe and Kingsbridge Chamber of Commerce.

The 16 – 24 Work Club Kingsbridge couldn’t have put this Awards event together without them.  

Great feedback from finalists and businesses via  Social media and face to face stating “what a buzz there was at the Awards event” - all asking if we can do it again next year. “Just wanted to send you a note to congratulate you on organising such a brilliant awards ceremony. I was so impressed with the number of attendees, and the professionalism of the event and setting. And it was great to see the proud young faces receiving the awards”. Watch this space.
