Young entrepreneur opens first beauty salon on city trading estate

Eighteen-year-old entrepreneur, Hannah White, has opened her first beauty salon based on Marsh Barton Trading Estate in Exeter.

Hannah, who grew up in Alphington and attended local schools Bowhill Primary School and St James High School, trained as a beautician at Exeter College and went on to work at several Exeter based salons before making the brave decision to follow her dreams and go it alone.

Hannah opened her tanning and beauty salon, The Beauty Lounge, on AlphinBrook Road last month and has had a constant stream of customers already.

Hannah said: “My first month has gone really well and I’ve been really busy so far, it’s been better than I expected. It was a big decision to start my own business, but it’s something that I have always wanted to do but was waiting for the right time and the right location to become available.

She continued: “The shop location is perfect as I’m right above an already established hairdresser, so clients can come and get their hair done at the same time as having their usual beauty treatments. There are a lot of busy people on Marsh Barton who can now squeeze their beauty regime into their lunch break.”

From a very young age, Hannah’s ambition was always to own her own beauty salon. She went straight from school to train at Exeter College and then went on to gain essential work experience in local salons Tonic, Nail Creations and WAGS before finding the perfect location to open her first business.

Her aim is to take on more staff in the New Year in order to expand her client base and offer more treatments.

Customers can currently book appointments for facials, manicures, pedicures, eyelash and eyebrow tints, eyelash extensions, gel nails, waxing and spray tanning.

Customers that book before Christmas can also make the most of the December special offers on eyelash extensions, spray tans and special packages that include a mixture of treatments ready for people going to Christmas parties.

Hannah is working around the clock to fit in her new clients at times convenient to them and welcomes group bookings and pamper parties for anyone who wants to treat their friends or families in the festive season.
