Time is running out to enter Listen2Win's Inter-Company Challenge at WESC

Listen2Win - an organisation comprising two Paralympian and England Blind Football players based here in Exeter - is inviting a select group of local companies to take part in the Inter-Company Challenge at WESC on 5 June from 5-7pm. Robin Williams, who is well on the way to achieving a PHD at Exeter University, and Keryn Seal, who has recently been made captain of the team, are both completely blind but their indomitable spirit and sense of fun are an inspiration to all who meet them.

Their organisation specialises in providing inspirational and motivational talks and seminars in a humorous and entertaining style, however, the real fun starts when they engage in imparting their listening and communication skills to teams such as yours. Have a look at their website www.listen2win.co.uk to find out a little more.

On 5 June Listen2Win will be bringing a small, select mix of companies and organisations together to take part in an Inter-Company Challenge at WESC utilising their ideal facilities on Topsham Road in Exeter. We'll gather at 5:00pm for registration and get started shortly afterwards. We will aim to conclude at around 7:30pm.

The evening is designed to be immense fun whilst boosting team building, wellbeing and good old 'thinking outside the box' due to the sight loss and communication conditions the contestants will find themselves in.

Here are a couple of examples of challenges that might be potentially played….although they won't necessarily be used just to keep you guessing:

  • The Wheel Chair Run The sighted participant will be seated and guiding the blindfolded pusher around an obstacle course against the clock. Points will be deducted for indecent haste or loss of direction etc.
  • Wall of Sound - Your blindfolded team member is placed on the traverse style wall and encouraged verbally by the rest of the team to make their way across the wall to the completion point. However, there will be a member of each of the other competing teams also there to give distracting messages. How will your team counter that?

And there will be much more to keep the teams and spectators engaged.

Teams will consist of just five participating individuals, however their supporters are welcome. A team requires £250.00 to enter and each team member will be asked to raise a modest amount for the WESC Foundation charity. Supporters won't be discouraged from giving to the worthwhile charity either.

There is also a possibility that Dan James, the sighted Paralympian and England Blind Football goalie, who has recently been made Vice Captain, will be able to attend too. That will make the total of caps for our country far over 100 between the three of them. Very impressive.
