Awards success for Exeter hotel

The Magdalen Chapter is thrilled to announce it has been named Bronze Large Hotel of the Year. The announcement was made at a glamorous award ceremony held at the Great Hall of the Grand Pier at Weston Super Mare on Thursday 12 February.

Fiona Moores, General Manager of The Magdalen Chapter, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to have accepted this award. To win bronze for large hotel of the year within the South West is a fantastic accolade, especially with the high level of entries and outstanding calibre of entrants. We are incredibly proud of our team and this achievement!”

With 98 different trophies presented to South Wests leading tourism businesses, the hotel fought off tough competition from over 425 entries. Each entry was considered for the Awards, with all entrants undergoing a rigorous short-listing process and 275 being visited by a team of 35 mystery shoppers.

Chair of Judges at the South West Tourism Excellence Awards, Alistair Handyside, said: “The list of finalists really does look like a who’s who of the best in the industry in the South West. Once again the entrants have surpassed themselves in showing that investment, innovation and creativity remain at the heart of the visitor economy in the region.”

Since it opened in 2012, The Magdalen Chapter has made a huge impact both regionally and nationally. The hotel, with its top restaurant and luxury REN Spa, has become a popular destination for both locals and visitors alike and has achieved accolades including Food & Travel Magazine’s City Hotel of the Year 2013 and Silver Large Hotel of the Year 2014 in the Visit Devon Tourism Awards.
