Everys launch global commercial team
Everys Solicitors will launch a specialist commercial team at the end of this month to facilitate deals worth millions of pounds for global businesses.
Ahead of the launch, which is due to take place at the Royal Albert Memorial Museum in Exeter today, Everys has already helped secure several high value business deals.
Thai corporation, the Srivikorn Group Holdings Co Ltd, whose shareholder owns a large share of Reading Football Club, recently completed on the purchase of the Madejski Hotel, next to the club’s stadium.
The same group is also expected to instruct Everys to help it purchase UK manufacturing businesses.
Meanwhile, Everys’ legal consultancy in Dubai continues to act for major insurance companies and brokers, as well as a number of large corporations based around the world.
In the UK, Everys’ Exeter head office will be the base for the majority of the new commercial team, drawing on the talent the firm has attracted or developed in recent years. Everys’ managing partner James Griffin will head up the team.
He said: “Exeter has a huge pool of talent and when I go up to London, I make it very clear to the overseas corporations and banks that I deal with that we are as equally capable as any London law firm, while remaining competitive on fees.
“Most of our commercial work has come from existing contacts and as a result of our reputation, which is exactly how we would want to attract new business. Those contacts are obviously confident in our abilities and are happy to recommend us.”
Everys’ newest team will include Steven Carman, Emma Davy, Sean Jenner and Kim Knox, plus commercial dispute resolution specialist Simon Bean, as well as the firm’s established property department that included partners Stephen Clegg, Kevin James and Kate Stamp. The team will be given an identity of its own with rebranded collateral in navy blue and silver compared to the burgundy and white of the usual Everys’ branding.
Mr Griffin added: “I have complete confidence in every member of our new commercial law team. They are prepared to work extremely long hours to make sure deals are done and deadlines are met. Meanwhile, they will also continue to serve the needs of our valued commercial clients in the South West, who form the core of our day to day business. We are ambitious on a global scale but are still very loyal to our local client base.”
