An Exeter solicitor has been appointed as Press Officer to the Devon & Cornwall region of Resolution, the organisation working to ensure improved solutions for family law matters.

Cathryn Smith, from The Family Law Company will draw on her previous experience as a specialist media lawyer to help publicise the aims of the campaigning group.

Resolution is an independent, national body that promotes a constructive, non-confrontational approach to family law matters and campaigns for improvements to the justice system. Members follow a code of practice, the principles of which have been adopted by the Law Society as recommended good practice for all family lawyers.

Cathryn said: “The objectives of Resolution are very close to my heart. I was Chair of the Devon & Cornwall region for many years before moving to work in the field of media law.

“I am delighted to return to the fold not only to family law, but also to work with the committee towards achieving Resolution’s goal of constructive resolution for family disputes.”

Cathryn joined The Family Law Company in 2013, bringing with her valuable skills for handling high value financial disputes and the more complex issues surrounding children.
