New contracts manager for South West sealant specialist

A Bristol-based sealant specialist has employed a new contracts manager to lead the company’s expansion in the South West of England, which will include a new office in Exeter.

Joe Prowse, who is originally from Torquay, has been taken on by S&D Sealants, who specialise in the supply and fit of sealants and mastics to the construction trade across England, Scotland and Wales.

Mr Prowse has over 15 years’ experience in the mastics industry and will be responsible for building recognition of the S&D brand and winning new clients for the company. He will be based in the company’s Exeter office and will be tasked with recruiting a team to facilitate the expansion of the South West offering.

Mr Prowse said: “I have worked in the South West for many years and am very much looking forward to this new challenge. S&D Sealants already has an excellent reputation in the rest of the UK for the high quality of their products and their service so I’m positive that this is something we can build on.

“It is noticeable the way the construction industry in the region is changing, in the past housing has been the main business but more recently we have seen the commercial construction sector growing which is very positive. Whilst the company has had an Exeter base for a few years now, this is the perfect time to secure our foothold here.”

S&D sealants has already had a number of big contract wins in the area with Taylor Wimpey in St Austell, Barratt Homes in Plymouth and Morgan Sindall in Exeter.

Nick Jones, Managing Director of S&D Sealants, said: “Joe’s reputation precedes him and I firmly believe there is no one better qualified than he is to lead our expansion in the area.

“With our recent contract wins in the area it seemed like the perfect time to expand their base in Exeter and Joe, with his local knowledge, is perfect in this role. I’m sure that he will be a welcome addition to the S&D team.”

S&D Sealants has doubled its turnover in the past three years despite being part of one of the worst hit sectors of the recession.

With a network of offices across the UK, S&D employs 75 staff and offers true national coverage by using a group of local sealant operatives to carry out specific projects. Their UK office expansion includes bases in Exeter, Wakefield, Fareham, Warrington, Bristol and Romford.

S&D regularly works with a wide variety of well-known construction companies including BAM, Balfour Beatty, Wilmott Dixon, Laing O’Rourke, Sir Robert McAlpine and MorganSindall.
