Art Extra in Honiton
ART EXTRA is a Charity Event on the 28th and 29th June 2014 at the 'Old Pavilion' near Honiton which aims to raise over £10,000 in support of local charity Hospiscare.
The three local organisers: Mary Ann Wilmot, Gill Coates and Debbie Luck hope to raise funds to help with the building and running of Hospiscare’s new day hospice which will serve East Devon.
The trio have brought together over 26 artists to exhibit their art with a large percentage of their sale proceeds going to the local charity.
The event kicks off on Saturday evening, the 28th June, where 250 paying guests will have the opportunity of attend a glittering champagne cocktail party. They will have priority viewing and the ability to purchase from over 140 works of art on display.
The highlight of the evening will be at 8.30pm, where the guests will have a chance to join the bidding in an auction of works donated by the artists. The entire proceeds of the auction will benefit the charity. A wonderful bronze cast of a horse’s head of the race horse ‘Arkle’ is the centre piece of the auction; the sculptress, Jane Scott-Fox, donated the piece to Hospiscare before she passed away in January this year.
The list of established artists include; Tania Kovats, Neil Cox, Stephen Brown, Michael Buckland, Ray Balkwill and Gina Parr.
One of the Artists, Gina Parr said: ‘’Hospiscare is now starting to be increasingly important to me and my step father Ron who has lung cancer.
‘’I am delighted to be involved with Art Extra and am starting to consider the painting I will gift and those that I will exhibit. I take my inspiration from memories of my Devon childhood.’’
On Sunday 29th June the exhibition has a free entry and is open to the public between 11am & 5pm when cream teas & cakes will be available.
Hospiscare offers palliative care across Exeter, mid and east Devon. Hospiscare is currently fundraising for a new day centre which will serve East Devon.
