Ashfords solicitors get on their bikes for charity
Staff from Ashfords Solicitors are supporting Cervical Cancer Awareness week this week by cycling 1,000 miles - without leaving their offices.
More than 120 Ashfords people from the Exeter, Bristol, Taunton and London offices will be climbing aboard static gym bikes placed in their receptions on Thursday 24 January to raise money for Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust, which is the only UK charity dedicated to women and their families affected by cervical cancer and cervical abnormalities.
“Our people put forward suggestions for Ashfords' charity of the year and Jo's Trust was a very popular winner. One of our Solicitors in the Bristol office lost a family member to cervical cancer and so it is a charity that has quickly become close to our hearts," said Elizabeth Gibson, who leads the firm's Corporate Social Responsibility strategy.
"Everyone has wholeheartedly bought into the idea of doing what they can to support the charity and there is much excitement in the office about our impending Cyclathon, as it is something lots of people can take part in."
Other events planned for this year to raise money for, and awareness of, cervical cancer and Jo’s Trust include an Apprentice-style challenge involving the firm’s trainees, an unwanted Christmas present swap shop and corporate sporting events.
