Aspect Windows’ cakes raise £321 for Comic Relief
Aspect Windows has raised £321 for Comic Relief with its hugely successful cake sale on Friday 15 March. Staff sold homemade cakes and biscuits to their colleagues, customers and other local businesses on the Trade City estate.
The company joined property guru Kirstie Allsopp in the Twitter Million campaign, a challenge on the social networking site to raise £1 million for the charity, and had hoped to raise £100.
A record £75 million was raised for Comic Relief this year. The total amount, to be spent on charity projects in Africa and Britain, topped the 2011 total of £74.3m shortly after 1.30am on Saturday.
Managing director Steve Cooling said: “We are thrilled to have raised over £300 for Comic Relief in its 25th year. The cake sale proved such a success and everyone was so generous on the day.
“The staff really got involved and many donated cakes. One member of the team even got his girlfriend involved and she baked an incredible Red Nose Day cake, which we auctioned to the highest bidder, raising an extra £50 for the worthy cause.
“I’d like to thank the whole Aspect Windows team, along with our neighbouring Trade City businesses, who paid a big part in helping to raise the cash!”
