Cooper Associates helps children's dreams come true

Exeter’s leading independent financial services company, Cooper Associates, has been busy raising money for charity Dreams Come True by attempting to complete the National Three Peaks Challenge. Lisa Rawle, Group Office Manager at Cooper Associates, recently attempted the Three Peaks Challenge in aid of Dreams Come True, a charity working to fulfil the wishes of children with serious or terminal illnesses. The National Three Peaks Challenge involves a gruelling climb of Britain’s three highest mountains – England’s Scafell Pike, Wales’ Mount Snowdon and Scotland’s Ben Nevis. The challenge must be completed in 24 hours, including travel time, and participants climb a total of 2926 metres, walking a distance of over 36km (22miles). Lisa took on the challenge to raise money for Dreams Come True, and in particular to grant the wishes of Cooper Associates’ sponsored ’dream child’, Grace from Taunton. Grace, who suffers from Global Development Delay, dreams of visiting Disneyland in Florida to meet her favourite Disney characters. Lisa even took a toy Tigger, Grace’s favourite character, up the mountain on her rucksack! Unfortunately, Lisa suffered a serious injury whilst descending Ben Nevis, resulting in her being airlifted to hospital to treat a broken ankle, leaving her unable to complete the challenge. The rest of Lisa’s group continued, even taking the Tigger mascot on their rucksacks to represent Lisa and Grace’s dream. Despite this setback, Lisa raised an impressive £630. Commenting on the challenge, Lisa said, “I attempted to complete the National Three peaks challenge for our Dreams Come True child, Grace.  I am thrilled to have raised £630 towards Grace’s dream of going to Disneyland and even carried Tigger on my rucksack in honour of her favourite character. “Dreams Come True is such a worthwhile charity, helping children realise a dream when their days can be full of endless treatments and hospital visits and I wouldn’t hesitate to enter other events in the future!” Cooper Associates specialise in providing independent mortgage advice and independent insurance advice to both individuals and companies.
