Today, 12 more children and young people will receive the devastating news they have cancer.

Nobody thinks it will happen to their child. Until it does.

CLIC Sargent is the UK’s leading charity supporting young cancer patients and their families, providing bespoke and tailored support to them when they need it most.

Volunteers are vital to the charity, helping us raise awareness and much needed funds to ensure we can be there for every child and young person at the point of diagnosis, through treatment and beyond.

And if the worst happens, we will support families come to terms with their loss, at a pace that feels right for them. So if you have a passion to help others, are a good communicator and could spare just a few days a year, we want to hear from you.

Jordan Anderton, local Fundraising Engagement Manager said: “Volunteering with CLIC Sargent by becoming a Collection Tin Coordinator is a small way to make a big difference to young cancer patients and their families. This role is very flexible, meaning you would only need to give a day or two every three months, making it perfect for those looking for a role to fit in around their other commitments.”

By placing just 10 collection tins in the community, you could raise enough to cover a CLIC Sargent grant of £170, which is given to families to help cover some of the immediate costs associated with a cancer diagnosis.

A local family supported by the charity said: “The grant we received from CLIC Sargent was amazing and helped us so much as I don’t drive so we had to pay for taxis back from the hospital after treatment as Tyler was unable to take public transport.”
