Dare to bare... have you got what it takes to walk over hot coals for Exeter's WESC Foundation?

Have you got a burning desire to face a new challenge and raise a scorching amount of money in the process? Then join other fearless fundraisers at Exeter’s Double Locks pub on 1 November and take part in a Fire Walk in aid of WESC Foundation - The Specialist Centre for Visual Impairment.

Organised in association with UK Firewalk, the event will raise funds through sponsorship for the charity, which provides specialist education and care to blind and partially sighted children and young people. You can enter either individually or as a team, and all participants will be mentored and trained by Scott Bell, the Guinness World Record holder for the greatest fire-walking distance.

Katy Gaulton, who took part the Fire Walk for WESC in 2012, said: “It was so much fun! The adrenaline was pumping and everyone taking part was so lovely. The feeling when I had done it was amazing. To anyone thinking about doing, I’d say don’t hesitate – it’s a great experience!”

Caroline Burkie, Fundraising Manager for WESC Foundation, said: “We are asking participants to raise as much money as possible with the aim of reaching £100. We are confident that if participants ask friends, family and colleagues to sponsor them, they will reach their target quicker than they think. At last year’s event, we raised an incredible £2,817 and there was a great atmosphere. Again, we invite all participants to make a night of it and join us in the pub for a social afterwards.”

Registration costs £20. Contact the Fundraising team on 01392 454343 or email fundraising@wescfoundation.ac.uk to sign up today.
