Decade of charity golf days raises £109,000
Hospiscare is celebrating after raising £109,000 during a decade of the hugely popular Charity Golf Tournament held in Exeter.
A total of 46 teams, mainly from Exeter but also from all over the country, played in glorious sunshine at the Exeter Golf and Country Club. There was plenty of light hearted rivalry and banter as they competed for the Marnie Burgoynes Memorial Trophy which was won by the Misfits, led by Nigel Armstrong
Norma Foster, chairman of the golf committee, said: “The wonderful support of golfers over the last decade has managed to deliver the amazing total of £109,000 – raising £17,000 on the day. Many of them have been playing since we started and turn out in rain or shine, we are so grateful to them.”
Hospiscare, is a local charity, which cares for approximately 650 adults at any one time across Exeter, mid and east Devon. Without the generous support of local people and local businesses, it would not be able to provide the vital end of life care that is so needed and appreciated by patients and their families.
