Devon Community Foundation welcoming cycle in Devon this weekend
Devon Community Foundation are looking forward to welcoming Calderdale Community Foundation this weekend when they are passing through the county as part of their 906 mile Land’s End to John O’Groats bike ride raising money for young apprenticeships.
The Cycle4Work campaign, which has so far raised more than £95,000, is being lead by Calderdale Community Foundation’s CEO Steve Duncan along with a team of seven cyclists coming from a variety of sporting and ‘not-so-sporting’ backgrounds. Starting their quest at Land’s End’s on Friday, the team will be going through Devon on Saturday 20 April starting at Bodmin Roche and completing their 104.9 mile trek in Taunton. They will take in the sights of Okehampton, central Exeter and Cullompton and take on the rolling hills of Devon scaling 976 feet before dropping to 22 feet above sea level!
Laura Hewitt from Devon Community Foundation said: “We are looking forward to supporting our colleagues from Calderdale Community Foundation this weekend. Cycling 906 miles in 10 days is a great challenge for them, especially as their average age is 50! They are raising money for a very worthy cause, which will help unemployed young people find work and gain long-term career prospects, something that is even more important at the moment. We wish them the best of luck and congratulations for raising such a substantial amount of money for a great cause.”
