Tom Lemon at leading furniture retailer, DFS, in Exeter has completed an extreme outdoor challenge to raise money for BBC Children in Need as part of DFS’s endeavour to raise over £1 million for the charity this year.

Earlier this month, on Wednesday 11 September, Tom Lemon joined DFS colleagues to tackle the Olympic white water rafting course that saw Team GB capture Gold and Silver medals at last year’s Olympic Games. To donate to Tom Lemon and the DFS team, visit https://mydonate.bt.com/teams/dfs

Helen Normoyle, Director of Marketing at DFS, said: “We like to give something back and make a difference to the communities around our stores. That's why we are so very proud to be supporting BBC Children in Need.  We set ourselves a massive challenge to raise one million pounds for BBC Children in Need and we’ve received a fantastic response from our employees.

She continued:  “As a business we pride ourselves on going the extra mile, whether that’s serving customers, or raising vital funds for such an amazing cause. It’s truly inspiring to see so many of our people throw themselves into the challenge of raising money for BBC Children in Need. It’s only because of people like Tom that we’ll hit our target help make a difference to children in Exeter and all over the UK.

This is the second in a series of challenges DFS’s employees are undertaking this year to help raise vital funds to change the lives of disadvantaged children and young people across the UK. With an ambitious target of £1million pounds, much more is in the pipeline including Pedal for Pudsey, which will see teams of DFS employees cycle a sofa the length and breadth of the UK.  DFS is also teaming up with top secret celebrities who will be designing exclusive limited edition BBC Children in Need cushions for DFS, hitting stores in October.

Carrie Green, Head of Partnerships at BBC Children in Need said: “We are delighted with what the team has achieved – this was an amazing challenge and certainly no mean feat tackling the perilous white water rapids of the London 2012 Olympic white water rafting  course.

She continued: “It is fantastic to have DFS on board raising money for BBC Children in Need.  Their support will make a huge difference to the lives of disadvantaged children and young people in  local communities all across the UK.”
