Doctors lose their trousers for ELF
Doctors in Cullompton hope their colleague's hospital stay will be a short one and have pledged to raise money for charity in his absence.
Dr Neil Rushton and Dr James Rowbury, who practice at College Surgery, have opted against wearing trousers until Dr Jeremy Jacobs has completed treatment at the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital – which could be after winter.
The GPs, whose practice is based at the Culm Valley Integrated Centre for Health, Willand Road, hope to raise £2,000 for Exeter Leukaemia Fund by wearing shorts for the next four to five months until Dr Jacobs returns following treatment for lymphoma, a type of cancer.
Dr Rushton said: "Dr Jacobs is a keen cyclist and often wears shorts and agreed this was a good way to raise funds."
