Exeter Enterprise Rotary raise £1,500+ for Royal Marines Hasler Company
So far over £1,500 has been raised from a charity golf day at Exeter Golf and Country Club on Thursday 13 June. This was the fifth annual golf day, organised by Exeter Enterprise Rotary which involved 25 teams of 4 from all over the UK.
The day was to raise funds and awareness of the Royal Marines Charitable Trust and their work in supporting injured and wounded Royal Marines.
As well as corporate teams, teams from Rotary Clubs and from the Royal Marines including the Hasler Company took part on the day.
The Lord Mayor of Exeter, Councillor Rachel Lyons accompanied by her consort Saxon Spence was present to see the Hasler Company team tee off.
The Hasler Company is a unit based at Plymouth’s HMS Drake which was formed in 2009 to support Royal Marines wounded in action after enduring traumatic experiences resulting in the loss of one limb or sometimes more.
President Maureen De Viell from Exeter Enterprise Rotary said, “We chose the Royal Marines Charitable Trust because of the inspirational and life-changing work they do in supporting our Marines wounded in action.
"We were delighted with the golf day, which is our flagship event and in particular the fact that the Hasler Company Team came first and thereby won this tournament.
"The day was a success with a hole in one being achieved by “The Old Grots” team member Bob Bishop. Finally we would like to thank The Lord Mayor and our Rotary District Governor Graham Smith for joining us on the day and everyone who took part.”
