The Exeter step out for charity
Staff from healthcare and protection insurance provider The Exeter have put their best foot forward for their current Charity of the Year, Rainbow Living.
A 14 strong team - and 2 dogs - took on a 15 mile walk and so far have raised £988 for the local charity. The Exeter will be generously pound-matching, making an impressive total of £1,976.
Starting at Teginmouth Pier, the walkers followed the coastal path past Dawlish and Starcross and ended at the Quay in Exeter seven hours later.
Becky Penrose, Chair of The Exeter’s Community, Charity and Environment Committee, gave thanks to everyone who took part and to all those who supported the walk by sponsoring the team; Committee Treasurer and route planner Tony Jones added that he was greatly relieved to have completed the walk without anyone getting lost.
Ruth Airdrie from Rainbow Living said: “We’re very grateful to everyone who took part and for raising such a fantastic amount. The funds raised will be put to very good use as every penny will go towards refurbishing our third Rainbow House in Exeter to make it suitable for the individual needs of the new tenants.
“We couldn’t do the work we do without the support of local businesses such as The Exeter and we are very appreciative of everything they have done for us as their Charity of the Year.”
