Furniture Village stores, including the Exeter branch, have worked together to raise over £1,700 for a blood cancer charity.

In 2013 all fourty branches helped to raise vital funds for charity by putting sofa shaped collection boxes in their stores refreshment areas.

The funds donated by customers whilst enjoying a tea or coffee helped the company raise a staggering £1,714 for the Anthony Nolan Register.

The Anthony Nolan Register enables those who need a blood stem cell or bone marrow transplant to find matching donors.

The register is the brain child of Shirley Nolan, whose son Anthony was born with a rare condition called Wiscott Aldrich.

As no service was available to find a matching donor for the bone marrow transplant he desperately needed, Shirley created the Anthony Nolan Register.

Charlie Harrison, Head of Marketing and eCommerce at Furniture Village said:

“It was a pleasure collaborating with the Anthony Nolan charity to raise awareness and money for such a worthy cause. Peter Harrison, Founder and Chairman of Furniture Village, has been a trustee of Anthony Nolan since 2007, and in 2013, we jumped at the opportunity to once again support the life-altering work carried out by the charity.”
