One of Devon’s biggest independent holiday parks is set to host two live music events to raise money for local charities.

Ladram Bay Holiday Park, between Sidmouth and Budleigh Salterton, is the venue for the two upcoming events.

One, organised by Budleigh Salterton Carnival Club, will aid the Devon Freewheelers EVS, a team of 50 volunteer emergency vehicle drivers who support the NHS in delivering essential supplies to local hospitals. The other will raise funds for SPACE - St Michael’s Parish and Community Endeavour, launched last year to develop Otterton Church into a community hub.

The SPACE Charity Night, on Saturday February 28 at Ladram Bay, will be hosted by Bay FM’s DJ Dale, and will include live performances from singer Kelly Griffiths and one of the UK’s top tribute acts, FX Tributes, playing a range of classic hits by the likes of Freddie Mercury and the New Jersey Boys in a dazzling show. The band go through costume changes as they perform an array of top tunes.

Reverend Anne Charlton, of St Michael’s Church, is hoping the event will be a success.

She said: “We want to be able to turn our old, cold and rather damp but beautiful and under-used church into a welcoming space for activities for the whole community. If we don’t the only other option is to close the building. We have canvassed the villagers, and nobody wants this so we need to fundraise. We’re grateful to Ladram Bay for helping.”

Then on Saturday March 7 Ladram Bay will, for the third-year running, host the Budleigh Carnival Club fundraiser, which this year is supporting Devon Freewheelers EVS. The evening’s entertainment includes live music from the Budleigh Salterton Ukulele Rat Pack and Joey the Lips, again hosted by DJ Dale.

Claire Williams, general manager at Ladram Bay Holiday Park, said: “It’s important for us to support the local community and fundraisers is one way we can do that.

“The Budleigh Salterton Carnival Club and St Michael’s Church in Otterton are good neighbours of ours and we are delighted to support them. I’m sure both events will be a great success.”

Ladram Bay Holiday Park, on the Jurassic coast overlooking its own bay and beach between Sidmouth and Budleigh Salterton, is set to reopen on Friday March 13, with work having been completed on a £10 million re-development including major upgrades to swimming pool complex and restaurant.

Tickets for both are on sale now and cost £12.50.

For the SPACE night, tickets are available by calling 01395 567565 or from the Sidmouth and Budleigh Salterton Tourist Information Centres, and Otterton and East Budleigh Community Shops.
