New chairman of Lord’s Taverners

David Kirk, partner at Exeter based Accountancy firm Kirk Hills and owner of Kirks Insolvency, a specialist business rescue and recovery firm, has been named as the new Chairman for the Devon and Cornwall Lord’s Taverners.

David’s appointment comes as Simon Harding, a Partner at Stephens Scown, retires from the position but who will remain on the Committee. The Charity is the UK’s leading youth cricket and disability sports charity, providing opportunities to disadvantaged and disabled young people in sport. With their roots being with cricket, they also enjoy relationships with a wide range of other sports including rugby, tennis, squash and basketball.

Between 2004 and 2014, the Devon and Cornwall region of the Charity raised £575,000 with £70,000 of this being raised in 2013/14.

Commenting about his new role, David said, “I’m really honoured to have been asked to be the Chairman of the Devon and Cornwall Lord’s Taverners. The charity does a lot to give both disadvantaged and disabled young people an opportunity in sport and I’m thrilled to be part of it. I’m looking forward to being able to help the Charity to raise a lot more money for this worthwhile cause.”

The Devon and Cornwall Lord’s Taverners Committee includes David Kirk from Kirk Hills, Robert Chalk from Chalk and Ward, Simon Harding from Stephens Scown, Peter Keech from Exeter Finance, Paul Scott from Hall & Scott and Damian Cook from Stratton Creber Commercial
