Sunday roast raises funds for charity
The Magdalen Chapter’s delicious Sunday Lunch is to raise money for Farms for City Children.
The top Exeter hotel has pledged to donate £1 from every Sunday Lunch served in The Restaurant to the hotel’s new chosen charity.
Hotel General Manager Fiona Moores said: “As our new charity for 2015, we are delighted to be working on a number of exciting fundraising initiatives and events with Farms for City Children of which this is just one. As a hotel, we are passionate about teaching children where their food comes from and so the Sunday Lunch is the perfect way to tie together the fantastic work of Farms for City Children and the journey our food takes from field to fork.”
Farms for City Children was founded by children’s author Michael Morpurgo and his wife Clare in Devon in 1976. The charity offers urban children from all over the country a unique opportunity to live and work together for a week at a time on a real farm in the heart of the countryside. Today they operate three fully working farms, which welcome around 3,000 children and 400 teachers each year.
The Magdalen Chapter’s traditional Sunday Lunch is freshly prepared in the hotel kitchen using only the finest locally sourced, seasonal ingredients. The charity dishes include a choice of Roast Pork Belly with Apple Sauce & Gravy or Roast Beef with Yorkshire Pudding, Horseradish and Gravy. Sunday Lunch is served from 12.30-3pm each weekend in The Restaurant. Children under five eat free from the children’s menu when accompanied by an adult (one child per paying adult).
