FORCE runners London Marathon 2025

Good luck Team FORCE at the London Marathon

FORCE will have five people taking part in this year’s London Marathon on Sunday April 27 .

Linda Grady, Sarah Moffat, Georgie Pigott, Ben Trigg, and Mark Wadeley-Jones will proudly wear the Team FORCE vest as they line up for start in Greenwich Park as part of a field of 56,000 runners.

They will tackle 26.2 miles around the capital and are on course to raise a fantastic amount of money for FORCE to help support local people affected by cancer.

Colleagues at a national housebuilder will run the Cardiff Half Marathon in memory of 32-year-old Dean Fletcher, who tragically died last year after taking part in the event.

The husband and father - a management accountant at Bovis Homes’ South West region - passed away following a cardiac arrest after completing the course last October.

In his honour, eight Bovis Homes’ colleagues will be running the 2019 event to raise funds for CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young), a charity that aims to reduce the risk of cardiac arrest in those aged under 35.

September is blood cancer awareness month and local charity Exeter Leukaemia Fund (ELF) will be collecting and raising awareness across Devon to help raise funds and awareness for the charity.

ELF is currently looking for volunteers to donate an hour or two of time to help at various collections around the county. Volunteering is a great opportunity to get out and about in the community, meet new people and help a great cause.

ELF is currently recruiting for collections in Exeter at the Guildhall Shopping Centre on Saturday 14th September and Tesco Exeter Vale on Thursday...

Exeter businesses gear up for children’s charity sports day

On Tuesday 17th September, members of the local business community will be battling it out in the inaugural CHICKS Superstar Games, hosted in Princesshay, Exeter, to help raise awareness and funds for the Devon-based national children’s charity.

The mock sports day will see the likes of Grow Magazine, Air Marketing, Attention Media, Burrington Estates and KTA go head-to-head competing in a mix of classic sports day activities including the egg and spoon dash, three-legged race and sack relay, as well as battling it out in heats including an obstacle relay.

To celebrate Devon Open Studios 2019, Rainbow Living has launched a Charity Art Auction , with work donated by three local artists.

Joan Prowse , Helen Workman and Roy Anderson – or Fotos, Flowers and Felt as they like to be known – are exhibiting at Joan’s Studio during Devon Open Studios, taking place 7th to 22nd September; the studio will be open to the public, providing an opportunity to view the four pieces being auctioned, along with the artists’ other work.

The date of this years’ Exeter Chiefs Foundation Smile A Mile Charity Walk has been confirmed as Saturday, 21st September 2019.

Come and join us in walking 10 miles in aid of the Foundation in a circular route which starts and finishes at Sandy Park, and takes in a flat, scenic route through the River Exe Valley.

The event will combine both the fundraising walk with watching the Exeter Chiefs V Bath Rugby Premiership Cup Game at Sandy Park.

Age UK Mid Devon tackles loneliness with new programme funded by £1m from the Masonic Charitable Foundation

Age UK Mid Devonis supporting older people as part of a three year programme to help older people feel less lonely and get the most out of later life, funded by the Masonic Charitable Foundation (MCF), the freemason’s charity.

The grant of £63,000, awarded on behalf of freemasons from the Province of Devonshire, is part of a £1 million grant from the MCF to Age UK. The MCF is funded by freemasons, their families and friends, from across England and Wales.

SOUTH WEST cyclists are being urged to use peddle power to raise money for Cancer Research UK this September.

The charity is launching its Cancer Research UK Cycle 300 challenge. It is urging men and women to sign up now and then choose how, when and where to clock up 300 miles on a bike next month.

There are many ways to hit the 300-mile mark. Commuters can to notch up ten miles a day on their cycle to work. Weekend enthusiasts can plan epic 75-mile routes through rolling countryside, while gym bunnies can step up the spin classes to hit their target.

Exeter Specsavers raises funds for deaf charity

EXETER Specsavers store cranked up the cuteness factor when it played host to precious puppies from the Hearing Dogs for Deaf People charity.

Audiologists from the store’s Hearcare team arranged the fundraising day to launch its support of the charity, with the aim of raising thousands of pounds.

Hearing Dogs for Deaf People trains dogs to alert deaf people to important sounds and danger signals, providing independence, confidence and companionship.

Two weeks to go until the 20th annual Michelmores 5k Charity Run

On Thursday 5 September, the Michelmores 5k Charity Run will take place on Exeter's Cathedral Green, with over 1000 runners taking part to raise money for a great cause.

The 5k Charity Run is the South West's largest corporate running event and has raised over £300,000 for local charities over its 20-year history.
