Nine Exeter School pupils have received medical offers at top universities across the country.

Six current Upper Sixth pupils have received medical offers this year.

Upper Sixth Former Grace Poole has received an offer to study Medicine at St George’s London. She said Exeter School had been a remarkable place to study her A Levels, from the support of various teachers with her studies and future plans, to the extracurricular activities and sports teams that she has enjoyed being a part of.

“I am leaning towards specialising in a field of Neurology with an open mind to the exciting prospects that I may face,” she said.

Senior Prefect Sarah Hardie has received an offer to read Medicine at Cardiff University. She said: "My time at Exeter School has provided me with the tools I needed to pursue my ambition of studying Medicine, as well giving me the opportunity to continue my love of music and sport."

Deputy Head Girl Charlotte Stacey has received an offer to study Veterinary Medicine at Royal Veterinary College London; Gaby Bridger and Marcus Colville have offers to read Medicine at Barts London Medical School and Newcastle University respectively.

Annabelle Clay has an offer to read Physiotherapy at Northampton University.

Three former pupils have also received medical offers: 2014 leaver Megan Cummings has a place to study Veterinary Science at the University of Liverpool. Exeter School alumni Rory McKenna and Abbey Gibbins have places to study Medicine at Liverpool and Leicester.

Biology teacher Mr Peter Boddington, who runs Exeter School’s Medical Society, said: “I have greatly enjoyed working with the pupils to achieve their goals and they deserve credit for the commitment and dedication that they have shown over the last few years.

Medicine and Veterinary Science are incredibly competitive courses and this group of pupils has shown a really impressive long term commitment to preparing for their application over the last three years.

“They have worked hard academically and gained the relevant experience through Medsoc and service in the community to support their application. They can be very proud of their achievements.”
